About Jyothis
Since Mumbai is known as the HIV capital of India, The city deliberately need a care center for those HIV Infected patients. Even though till 1999 December 23 there were lots of governmental and non governmental works doing for HIV/AIDS patients. But There were no any care home to keep those patients with love & care. So the HIV infected became rejected by their homes, society even from specialty hospitals also. So in response to the call of God the father to help his children who are suffering from this dreadful disease HIV/ AIDS, the congregation of the ‘Sisters of the Destitute’, Santhidham Province started the “Jyothis Care Centre”(JCC) in Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai which is became By God’s grace and love, the centre was thrown open on the 26th of December, 1999, as a ray of hope to the hopeless, rejected and destitute AIDS patients so that they may live out their last days with dignity, knowing that they are children of God and are cared and loved for. That ventured to take upon itself the care of the destitute of every caste, creed and religion. The main objectives of the congregation are to provide physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual care to those who are in need, especially the destitute.In the year 1998 March 15th foundation stone laid by Rev.Mar Thomas Elavanal,Bishop of Kalyan and inauguration done by Hon’ble Chief Minister.Sri.Vilasrao Deshmugh on 26 of December 1999.

The Trust has two Centers
i) Jyothis Care Center(JCC) at Kalamboli,Navi Mumbai, Kalamboli,NaviMumbai.This Center was inaugurated on December-1999, which accommodates 40 patients,both and women affected with HIV/AIDS. JCC is a residential care home providing comprehensive services to people living with HIV/AIDS(PLWHAs) in a homely and congenial environment irrespective of cast,creed or religion. It provides palliative care services or both men and women in congenial environment of free of charges. This is the first care home in maharashtra to meet the residential care needs of PLWHAs. During these years we have admitted more than 1800 patients and out of them 700 have died.
ii) Jyothis Rehabilitation Center(JRC) at Taloja,Navi Mumbai , On regaining health, many of them went home and may where left behind since their families refuse to accept them. In this situation the center started ‘Rehabilitation Center’ for women patients at Taloja in the year 2003, which is about for 30 patients care services. Land for rehabilitation center donated by the man of God and great humanity worker for last 25 years among the leprosy victims in Mumbai. Rev.Father.Carlo Thoriani ,the founder of Swargadhwar).

Running of this Institutions
This institutions run by general support of public.the institution doesn’t get any help from government and Non- government organization till date.But by the abundant grace and blessings of almighty God they are getting everything time to time, including vegetables ,fruits and provisions from A.P.M.C market Vashi and other like minded people. Everyday they experience the divine providence of God in each minute need of these centers. Due to this they are able to take care of inmates effectively and as per the will of God.
